My name is Catherine and I own Moon Baboon Rattery. I'm a new breeder in the North Staffs area (Newcastle-under-Lyme). I'm a teacher and a parent and an ally. I have dogs and a cat and many rats! I like sewing, museums, resin, mosaic, clay, tattoos and the odd adult beverage!My rat story began when I got four rats from Caroline at Broadwaters and they are the most amazing rats ever (Bear, Weasel, Monkey and my
rat Moon Baboon). I strongly felt that there must be an alternative for people who don't necessarily want a specific variety of rats or who aren't interested in the showing side of things... People who just want gorgeous, friendly rats. At the same time I saw a lot of vitriol directed at Caroline for being a "backyard breeder" which I knew from experience couldn't be further than the truth. I'll be honest it kind of put me off the rat community!! Anyway, I asked Caroline if she would consider being my mentor and she decided to go one better and we are now in a wonderful, uplifting, supportive, friendly, knowledgeable cooperative.I think this forum is a brilliant extension to the cooperative and I think that we all have so much to learn from each other whether you are a new rat parent or an experienced one or a breeder - you all have experience that can help another person here.
